綜合描述
斜紋天蛾(Theretra clotho clotho)是天蛾科(Sphingidae)長喙天蛾亞科(Macroglossinae)長喙天蛾族(Macroglossini)的成員，本種的前翅為黃褐色底，密佈黑點，前緣為桃紅色，沿前緣有墨綠色斑，有一條黑線自頂角延伸至後緣距臀角約後緣長1/3處，中室有一個黑點；後翅為黑色底，臀角與前緣基部有黃色斑。斜紋天蛾屬(Theretra)在古北區東方共記錄約11種，其中僅有T. pallicosta未分布於台灣，其餘十種台灣皆有產。
A Brief Introduction:
Theretra clotho clotho represents one of the ten Theretra species distributed in Taiwan and shares very similar wing pattern with T. boisduvali. The black line of forewing of the former species is just a straight line while the latter one is a black line decorated with black spots.

分布
本亞種從斯里蘭卡、印度經中南半島的尼泊爾、越南東往中國、台灣、韓國南方與日本分佈，南往南洋群島分佈；另一亞種為T. c. celata，自摩鹿加往東分佈至萬那杜，往南分佈至澳洲。

外觀相似性
斜紋天蛾與星點斜紋天蛾(T. boisduvali)的翅紋相近，但前者前翅為一條黑線，後者則有許多明顯的黑點；其餘八種前翅線條複雜許多。
